Recently, I came across an old acquaintance asking me about weight loss.
In the midst of a very, very, very busy schedule, I stared into my whatsapp screen and thought out loud.....
"Heck, she finally made up her mind to lose weight! Let's spend some time to help her get started!"
I started replying her texts - to find out how she would like to get started, of course.
After a couple of hours exchanging texts messages, I finally gave her the price to get started.
After looking at that price tag, she pulled out.
She thanked me for my time and effort - and decided to look elsewhere for "cheaper alternative".
(Have you dealt with this kind of people before?)
This time round, I was not even angry or furious that she wasted my time.
More like... I was curious why isn't she losing weight after 5 years!
I scrolled through my message history and voila!
There was a track record since the day we started talking: October 2010!
That was 5 years ago!!!
Throughout the 5 years, there were messages here and then that we spoke about weight loss.
We spoke about spending the investment on herself.
And every single time, it was the same old excuse.
Please make a guess?
"Sorry, I cannot afford it."
And... would you like to know how much was it that she could not afford it?
$49 stopped her.
$49 caused her to only dream of losing weight.
$49 is her #1 road block to getting a healthier body & younger self.
Tonight, I learnt a very valuable lesson.
Stop Being Cheap. Especially to Your Own Self.
You are worth every single penny. Every single effort.
It is not about the money. It is about the thinking.
5 years later on and could not even afford $49.
My prayers go to those who are struggling like the girl who spoke to me tonight.
You can be frugal, but do not be cheap!
(Especially towards the development/improvement of yourself)
